Rep. Vargas Urges the Obama Administration to Veto UN Security Council Resolution
San Diego, CA--Congressman Juan Vargas (CA-51) issued the following statement regarding a pending vote in the United Nations Security Council on Israeli settlement activity:
“I stand firmly against today’s proposed UN Security Council resolution regarding Israeli resettlement activity. This effort does not move the region closer to peace and, instead, only undermines Israel. The United States must continue to defend Israel against these one-sided resolutions and I urge the Administration to veto the proposed resolution if it comes to a vote.”
Vargas represents California’s 51st Congressional District which includes the southern portion of San Diego County, all of Imperial County and California’s entire US/Mexico border. Vargas was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 and is currently serving his second term in Congress. He serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the Committee on House Administration.
